SBA 7(a) document collection, from application to servicing

Borrowers, guarantors, brokers, loan officers, and servicing teams, all chasing the same documents through email. See what 7(a) lending looks like when every document lives in one secure workflow, for the life of the loan.

Where are the documents?

Ask anyone who's sat in a credit or closing committee, and they'll tell you it's the most common question in the room. Watch the short video to see why it keeps getting asked, and how SBA lenders are putting an end to it.

A 7(a) loan has one lender. It doesn’t have one source of documents.

On paper, a 7(a) loan is straightforward: one lender, one borrower, an SBA guaranty. In practice, every owner with 20% or more needs to sign a personal guaranty and send their own financials. There's often a broker or referral source, sometimes a lender service provider packaging the file, and legal counsel at closing.

Each of them sends documents a different way. Some arrive as email attachments, some through a shared drive, some as a stack of downloads from another system. Your team pieces it together, follows up on what's missing, and asks again for what got lost.

And closing isn't the finish line. Annual financials, insurance renewals, and servicing documents keep coming for the life of the loan, and the file has to be complete if the SBA ever reviews it or you need to request a guaranty purchase.

Once a document is sent by email, nobody can see it. Not the loan officer. Not the borrower. Not the servicing team. So the same document gets requested again, and again.
It slows down every deal, and it's a poor experience for borrowers fielding duplicate requests for paperwork they've already sent.

Partnering with a CDC on 504 deals too? Your bank, the CDC, and the borrower can work from the same file.

Keep sensitive loan documents out of inboxes

Tax returns, financial statements, and personal guarantor information don't belong in email. With business email compromise among the leading causes of cybersecurity breaches, moving SBA document collection to a secure portal is no longer optional.
